SΛTIS lab is a research group based at the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University, dedicated to advancing social data science.

We see social data science not as a method, but as a new way of thinking about society. It combines computational tools, advanced statistical modeling, large-scale data integration, and theoretical insight to understand complex social systems. Our work transcends traditional boundaries between the social sciences and data science, aiming to produce knowledge with high predictive power, methodological rigor, and real-world relevance.

At SΛTISlab, research is not static. It is dynamic, adaptive, and responsive to rapidly changing societal challenges. We do not passively apply established methods — we refine, expand, and sometimes redesign them. We believe that innovation in methodology is inseparable from innovation in theory.

Our ambition is to redefine what research in the social sciences can be:
• Integrative across disciplines and sectors
• Methodologically bold and computationally advanced
• Socially relevant and policy-informed
• Open to new questions unconstrained by legacy thinking

We prioritize societal relevance over narrow thematic specialization. Whether studying social networks, educational systems, or AI in society, our goal is the same: to build robust models that help explain, predict, and improve social systems.
